Global Home

As August winds down and the golden days of Summer begin to fade, it's the perfect time to reset, realign, and renew. A late summer detox isn't about restriction or intense cleanses-it's about nurturing your body and mind with simple, intentional rituals that leave you feeling light, clear, and centered before the busy season of fall begins. For me, after a fun filled summer of beach days, outdoor dining, and warm weather cocktailing, a change in routine and diet is exactly what I need. I welcome the Fall season with a refreshed sense of self. Here are some of my go to tips and tricks to reset the mind and body.

Hydration, Hydration, Hydration

After months of sun, salt, heat, and fun beverages, I recommend a 3-day hydration challenge and up your water intake three times your norm. That may seem like a lot, but it's completely doable and your skin, liver, and kidneys will thank you for it. Start your day with a cup of warm water and lemon. This will help flush out toxins. Infuse your water during the day with cucumber, mint, or berries for added nutrients, antioxidants, and flavor. Trust me, your skin will be glowing.

Take Care Of Your Gut

Summer indulgences can leave your system feeling bloated and sluggish. Incorporate antioxidant-rich smoothies with spinach, berries, ginger, and flaxseed to your diet as a meal substitute. I use almond milk as my base, but you can use fresh squeezed juice or filtered water or a number of other alternatives as well. Here's a great wellness shot recipe to help boost your metabolism, support digestion and liver function, soothe inflammation, and wake up your system:

Makes One Serving

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon raw honey (or to taste)
  • A pinch (1/8 tsp) of cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons warm water (not hot-just enough to mix easily)

Other Helpful Rituals

Take an epsom salt bath and add an essential oil such as lavender and/or chamomile. This will soothe aching muscles and promote relaxation. Limit late night scrolling and emails. Remove obligations that are no longer serving you. Take time for yourself…go get a facial or relaxing massage, take a moment to reflect by the water, simply take the time to craft a moment of serenity just for you.

And as always…be well, spa often, wear your sunscreen.
