Spring Skincare: The Real Guide to Serums

Hello Neighbors! Spring is just around the corner and there’s no better time to talk about healing our skin from this cold, snowy winter we’ve had. Plus, it’s one of my favorite topics to discuss, as I’ve been treating skin for both men and women for years. I truly believe that good skincare results in good skin. Let’s get into it..

Walking into any skincare aisle and you’re instantly surrounded by buzzwords: peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide. Promising bottles, glowing claims, and a lingering question—Do I need all of this? The truth is, great skincare isn’t about having more products. It’s about choosing the right ones for your skin’s needs. Does it feel tight or dry by midday? Is redness or sensitivity an issue? Are you concerned with fine lines, dullness, or breakouts? Your answers matter and I’m here to break it down to help you reach your skincare goals.

Your Personal Serum Guide

Hyaluronic Acid – The Hydration Hero

Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds moisture, helping skin look plump, smooth, and refreshed. It’s especially helpful for dry or dehydrated skin—All skin types

Vitamin C – Brightness & Protection

Vitamin C helps brighten the complexion, improve tone, and protect against environmental stressors. Use in the morning for added antioxidant support. Sensitive skin types may want to find a gentle potency.

Niacinamide – The Balancer

Helps calm redness, refine pores, support the skin barrier, and regulate oil production. For oily and acne prone skin.

Peptides – Skin Strengtheners

Peptides support collagen and help improve firmness and elasticity over time. Think of peptides as long-term maintenance rather than an instant fix. Perfect for mature, aging, and compromised skin.

Pro Tips

Your skincare routine should be 4 steps: Cleanse, Toner, Treat (serums), Moisturize/ Sunscreen. If you use more than one serum, the rule of thumb is to apply the thinner serums first, then add the thicker ones. Get regular facials every 4-8 weeks. Cerulean Spa at Mystic Marriott offers a gorgeous facial menu to choose from.

Be well, spa often, wear your sunscreen
