WORK LIFE BALANCE: HOW SUCCESS AND WELL-BEING CAN COEXIST
Hearing the phrase “work/life balance” can seem more like a dream than a reality. I must admit, I too often find myself adding social time with my friends to my calendar because if I don’t, I’ll never see them. Between long hours, constant notifications, and endless responsibilities, many of us find ourselves running on empty. But balance is not just about splitting our time perfectly—it’s about creating harmony between what we do and how we live.
SUCCESS MEANS NOTHING WITHOUT WELL-BEING
Chasing goals is important, but setting boundaries while doing it is most important. Answering emails at midnight or missing family time doesn’t prove dedication; it proves imbalance. Setting boundaries with your time management shows respect for your health, your career, and those who matter most to you.
BALANCE LOOKS DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE
There’s no “one-size-fits-all” version of balance. For some, it’s leaving work at 5 p.m. sharp. For others, it’s building a flexible schedule. When I have a packed day, I always tell the team that I have a “hard stop” for the time allotted. The key is defining what balance means for you—and unapologetically honoring it. Balance isn’t only found in vacations or days off. It’s in the simple things like taking a quiet walk, enjoying a cup of tea without multitasking, or having a quick catch-up call with friends. These little pauses give us more energy than we realize.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE OVER THE OTHER
When we take care of our well-being and respect our time, we show up as our best selves—in our careers, our families, and our communities. So let us redefine success as not being the busiest person in the room, but as living a life where our work and our joy can thrive side by side. Professionally, I love what I do, but personally, none of it matters if I don’t take time to also do what I love.
